When Placing an order with Race, we first have to determine if your home is eligible for aerial or underground installation. If your home has not been previously determined as aerial or underground, then a site survey will be scheduled to gather information about your property to help us determine access and to locate any potential obstacles.

• A construction engineer will survey your property to determine the drop type.
• Your home will be marked as an aerial or underground installation.
• We will note if there is existing conduit or if your home has direct buried cables.

• Aerial drops are when the Fiber to the Premises (FTTP) installation is done using the existing pole infrastructure in the area.
• Aerial drops are usually done within 7-10 business days after your order is placed. For recently released areas the wait may be longer.
• No installation costs.

If you have been deemed an aerial drop but would like to explore the possibility of an underground drop, YOU MUST speak to a Race representative before starting any underground work. If the underground drop has been approved by a Race representative, you will be responsible for the underground trenching and laying of the conduit (see specs sheet - link below)

Underground installation means that your fiber cable can be installed using existing conduit, or by trenching and laying new conduit.

• If there is existing usable conduit Race will dig at each end and pull our fiber cable through.
• Don't have services currently connected via an existing conduit, but are planning to upgrade? We can use that too.
• Please mark your sprinkler system or any other obstacles that may be buried in your yard. This helps ensure that no damage occurs during installations.
